Love being a mom

Today I worked at IHC while the other 2 regular techs went to some taining for the new computer system they'll be getting in a couple of weeks. I dropped Kayleigh off at my mom's around 8:40 and picked her up at 5 in the afternoon. Then I came home to unfolded laundry, dinner unmade, bed un made, etc. Hmmm..... I think I love being able to stay home and take care of everything. I don't know how women do it that have to work 40 hours a week! Whew, I'm so grateful to be me!

Busy, fun weekend

Our fun weekend began on Friday when Erin (Erika's friend) offered to watch Kayleigh so we could go to Lagoon. We have been wanting to ride the new Wicked ride ever since we saw it. Going to Lagoon during Frightmares is perfect we decided. It's not very busy and it's not hot. Friday night was perfect weather! We just took sweatshirts and we were set. We rode the Wildmouse, Jet Star, Collausus, the Spider, The Rocket (each side), the Sky ride, the Swings, and Wicked three times. All were pretty fun but Wicked is now our favorite ride there.
We walked past the kiddy rides and we can't wait until Kayleigh is old enough to go on them, it will be so fun to take her. Thanks Erin and Joel for watching Kayleigh, we had a great night out!

On Saturday we celebrated Halloween at my parents' house. We jumped on the tramp, carved pumpkins, made and decorated sugar cookies, and the little girls dressed up. Jumping on the tramp was really fun because Nathan just loved having someone to jump with and Kayleigh loved being bounced! Decorating cookies is always fun and yummy to eat afterwards. Also, we had our annual Chili and scones for dinner-it was yummy too!

On Sunday we spent time with the Kennard/Barlow clan because Brooke was blessed. The blessing went great and afterwards was a yummy feast of potatoes, ham, jello, green beans and rolls. For dessert was pie, cookies and brownies. Baby Brooke was so very cute in her long, white blessing dress and she didn't even make a peep during all of Sacrament. I feel bad we forgot our camera but on Staci's blog there will be pictures of the big day I am sure.

We hit some pretty good stores, Old Navy, The Children's Place, Carter's, Gap, Claire's, Bass and Liz Claiborne to name a few. I ended up getting 2 new purses and 3 new pairs of earrings, thanks John and Katerina for sending money and Mom for buying it all for me. I also got Kayleigh a VERY CUTE pink coat for winter, some new pants and 2 new shirts, one of which will be her Thanksgiving day outfit! Anyway, it was very fun and the weather was perfect.

9 month check-up

Kayleigh went to see Dr. Doug today. She is 22 lbs. 13 oz. (95 %) and 30 1/4 inches long, also in the 95%. Her head, which used to be in the 70th percentile is now in th 95%. WOW! She is such a big girl! Dr. Doug says she is doing just great! She got her 1st flu shot today nd did great, only cried for just a few seconds. She also got her fingure pricked to check for anemia. Her count is 36.6 and just needed to be above 31 so she's fine there too.

I love it when everything is good. I am sooo happy she is healthy and growing well. I was a little worried that she doesn't have any teeth yet, but Dr. Doug said if she doesn't have any by 15 months then she will be behind, but all you can do is wait.

Old Mac Donald had a farm, ei ei oooo!

Last night was the annual Halloween at the Hamblin's. Since they have recently moved up to Logan so Dave can get his Masters Degree many of us friends made the trek up to Logan. Driving up was a little scary in Layton thru Ogden as there was an accident and snow. Once we got into the canyon we cruised right along. The nigh started out with a visit to The Pumpkin Walk, an annual thing held up in Logan 2 weeks in October. Local schools, churches, and families all decorate pumpkins and then the public is welcome to walk through the park and enjoy their art. We had never heard of this until Dave and Jill told us about it, but it ended up being pretty neat! It was a little cold, but we bundled up good and it was fun to get out and do something. Oh, and the best part, it was free! After the walk we went back to the Hamblin's for soup, rolls, and pumpkin pie. It was yummy! We had fun catching up with friends and headed home around 10:00p.m. The drive home was smooth, thankfully the weather held out. Thanks Hamblin's for a fun night and we'll look forward to next year's Murder Mystery party!

Ready for fall

Last night we went out and got pumpkins! I've been sort of behind this year, Halloween is only a week and a half away and we are just getting pumpkins for the front porch, oh well. I really LOVE the fall. I wish the season lasted longer. It seems we go from summer right to winter.

We also got new cell phones last night. Michael's got ruined this past week when we went to Davis Cup. After sitting in his pocket for over an hour in basically a puddle of water on the bleechers, it doesn't work any more. Too bad, guess we had to go and get new phones, huh? Darn! We both got the same ones. They are black and are blue tooth compatible, Michael got a blue tooth to go with his. They are also camera phones. I've never had a camera phone so that is kinda fun for me. I like having a picture of Kayleigh on my phone. The phones are kind of long, but REALLY thin. I can't believe all the info they can hold in such a little thing!

HAPPY FALL!!!!!!!

We are so lucky

This past Tuesday Kayleigh and I made the trek up to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital to visit Michael. It was pretty cool to see where he actually works! I've envisioned his office and all that he does, but it was totally different in person. While there, he had to run some papers to Primary Children's Hopsital to get a signature. Since we were there we tagged along. As we walked all through the hospital and saw sick people, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude that we are all healthy and strong. Cancer is so horrible and I hope that we never have to deal with it, especially with Kayleigh.

I think it's also neat that so many people are in the healthcare industry trying to help others. There are horrible things like cancer, but there are those who have healed completely, thanks to the great medical staff. I am grateful we live in a day with modern medicine and technology.

9 months old

Kayleigh is growing up sooo fast, a big 9 months old TODAY! Everyone is saying more and more that she looks like Michael, what a cutie. She has been so fun these past 9 months and such a good baby. Kayleigh loves her bathtime and has recently been sticking the whole head of her ducky and sea turtle in her mouth, it's so funny!

Window shopping

After cleaning the house and doing laundry today I wanted to do something fun so I decided to go and check out some stores I've been wanting to go to. I started out with Willow Tree in Kaysville. I think they have really CUTE things, but kinda pricey. Then I went to Michael's Crafts. I want to get some letters for Kayleigh's room to spell her name, but ended up not getting them. Next stop was Hobby Lobby. Here I found lots of cool stuff! I ended up getting a pretty cool clock, normally $39.99, but they were 50% off today. That's not all, the one I wanted had been taken out of the package so it didn't look very nice. I went and found a worker and asked if I could get a different one, she said they didn't have any more but if I took this one she would give me and extra 10% off. I decided this was a pretty good price so I got it for 16 bucks! I was so happy with the bargain!!!!

Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday Suzy! Today is Michael's mom's birthday. We went there this afternoon, had dinner and cake-thanks to Staci! Grandpa fed Kayleigh some of the pumpkin cake and she just LOVED it! He also put some icing on her binki and as soon as she put that in her mouth she tasted the surprise, I think she liked that too. Good luck, Suzy, with another year of working and hopefully more playing!

Our humble little abode

In no particular order, here are some pictures of our house. (The one above is of our bedroom.) Rachel has been dying to see them, sorry it has taken me so long to post them. Boyd and Rachel are friends that we met in our previous ward. They have since moved to Texas but we lve to keep in contact with them.
Here is part of the master bath.

And there ya go, of course it's better in person and we are always changing things around it seems like. The decor in the kitchen and bedroom are new, so that has been fun to enjoy.
