Draper Temple Open House

Michael and I took Kayleigh on Tuesday to the temple open house. I thought it would be a great time to take her and let her see the temple. She got very excited over the bus she got to ride to and from the temple. I think she has a fascination with buses since my brother goes to and from school on a bus. Every bus we see on the road is "Nathan's bus". She seemed to also like the baptismal font as well. Other than that she wanted to walk everywhere you aren't supposed to and be kind of loud. Thank goodness everyone is understanding there and there's lots of other kids too so it was okay. I think it was really organized how they had it running down there. I was impressed! I really liked the colors inside the temple. It seems they are more earthy tones compared to other temples I've been in. It was pretty! I loved the chandeliers in the Bride's Room and in the Celestial Room.

Michael had invited some friends of his from work that are not members of the Church. In the end only one of them came, what a trooper Diane! I think she enjoyed the art work and the overall experience. We all enjoyed a cookie afterwards and then headed back to our car.

I guess for Kayleigh the bus and cookie were the best parts! She has talked about the temple since then though so she must remember some of it.

Home improvements and repairs

The clogging culprit

Kayleigh really wanted to go down into the crawl space with Daddy.

Michael was off work yesterday and he had a big urge to get some things done around the house. I was thrilled about it so I entertained Kayleigh with laundry, cleaning and errands while he worked some magic. We also had my dad and Michael's dad helping us. Thanks so much dads, we couldn't have done it without you!

First off, you might remember me posting awhile ago about our toilet issue, how there is something stuck in the pipes about 8 feet down. Well, Michael and my dad went down into our crawl space, cut into the pipes, retrieved the NASTY razor blade, and fixed the pipe. So, Rescue Rooter I have a word for you...this project was not worth 700 bucks that you said it would cost to fix. It took my husband and dad about 45 minutes and a 4 dollar part. You are stupid! So hopefully our toilet will flush with more flow now and not plug so much, yay!

Second of all, about a month ago we purchased some new light fixtures for our outside lights on the house. Michael took our old ones down and put the new ones up. They look so much better! Goodbye ugly gold fixtures!

Third, we got a new kitchen sink and a new faucet! This is something I have been wanting to do since we moved in. The faucet basically had an automatic shutoff feature-very annoying! And the sink was pretty shallow thus water would spray everywhere when you turned it on. So, my new sink is a little over 2 inches deeper, with a flat bottom, not a sloped one like the old sink and my new faucet will hopefully be better too. We have to wait 24 hours for the caulk to dry before using water so I haven't tried it out yet. (Cooking and doing dishes has been difficult.) Today around 4 I'll do the honors. I know it sounds lame to be excited over a new sink and faucet but I am way excited!

Grace's birthday

This past Sunday we went to my parent's house for our monthly family home evening. Being February we celebrated Grace and Chris's birthdays. Kayleigh loved watching Grace open her presents and amazingly didn't try to help her. Grace is 3 now, wow! Kids just grow up fast. I think Grace is THRILLED that she now has her own June from Little Einsteins to go with Leo. Now Kayleigh won't have to share hers so much. If you can't tell, this has been an issue...

Making Valentines

Kayleigh had fun helping me make cards for her friends and family. Mostly she liked eating a sucker and putting the stickers on.

Peaceful night

Cuddling before bedtime with my little bug.

She loves olives

We had Hawaiian Haystacks last week and Kayleigh's favorite part was the olives.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy V-day to all out there! We hope you have a great, enjoyable day. We are headed to Chili's for dinner and then I think we'll rent a movie and stay in for the rest of the night.

For all you bargain shoppers out there

I went to Old Navy yesterday and they had some great things on clearance. I, of course, was looking in the toddler girls section, but I'm sure they had other things too. I got Kayleigh some cute long sleeve shirts for 3 dollars and a cute dress for ten bucks. I love deals and thought I'd pass them on.

Why don't we remember our camera?

This weekend we had a lot of fun. Saturday Michael went skiing with some co-workers. They went to Snow Basin and had a great time! Of course he forgot the camera so we don't have any pictures to post of it. That night we went to dinner at my cousin BreeAnn's house. My sister also came to dinner too. So, all our kids played together while we talked. Our dinner was great, Hawaiian Haystacks, rolls, and ice cream with brownie bites for dessert.

On Sunday we had church of course. Michael sang with 3 other guys in Sacrament meeting, it was really good! Then we enjoyed a short nap before heading to our neighbor's house for dinner. It's kinda nice, we get together with them and each bring a few things for dinner. Then we both don't have to do a full blown meal. Yesterday we had roast, potatoes, rolls, jello and carrots. It was yummy! Kayleigh loves playing with their little girl so it works out great.

And now it's Monday, it's been snowing all day so far. Thankfully we have the Bachelor to look forward to. Have a good week!

Just for fun

Since I haven't posted in awhile I thought I'd share these pictures of Kayleigh. Who thinks she needs to grow some hair on her right side?

Our weekend

We have been so busy the past couple of days. On Friday night we had my sister and her two girls sleep over. We made pancakes, eggs and bacon for dinner. The girls loved playing together for a little while before they had to go to bed. Kayleigh and her cousin Grace slept in the same room-that was interesting. Actually, they did pretty good once we got them to sleep. Grace woke up once in the morning around 6:30 and went out to sleep with her mom and Kayleigh went back to sleep.

Marie and I stayed up till 2 watching American Idol (DVR) and talking, it was so fun! It was fun until I had to get up at 7:30 to got to work. After work I went strait to my cousin's baby shower at my mom's house. It was really fun to see my family, enjoy some food together and celebrate with Linda. I am so excited for her and Tyler, they've been trying to have a baby for years now and thanks to IVF it's finally going to happen.

After the shower I ran to work again (the other pharmacy I work at one Sat. a month to do their billing) and after that went quickly to a family birthday party for Michael's grandpa. Once again it was fun to see family and enjoy pizza, cake and ice cream.

Once we got home around 8 we put Kayleigh to bed, I prepared my Sunbeams lesson, made a cake for Sunday for my father-in-law's birthday and then went to bed.

Now, while I was at work and the shower all day Michael had Kayleigh. They went to his parent's house for about an hour while they had a t.v. repairman at their house but had to leave before he was finished. It worked out Michael could go and stay there while he finished. Once Michael got home then we had a Rescue Rooter guy come to look at our toilet that plugs very easily and the seal under the toilet had broken. After 250 bucks the seal is broken and from his camera we know there is something lodged in the pipes. Great! Our toilet gets plugged often and this must be why. So...we need to cut that piece of pipe out and replace it. Thankfully we have a crawl space and the pipe isn't buried under the house, but it could still be a nasty project. The rooter guy said 700 bucks to do it! Yikes. Thankfully my dad and father-in-law both think that's crazy and that we could do it. So we'll see what happens with that. In the meantime we just keep plunging away thus weakening that seal that likes to break a lot.

On Sunday we went to church, had quick naps and then headed off to Michael's parent's house for a birthday dinner for Michael's dad and to watch the Super Bowl. We were all sad the Cardinals didn't win, but at least the 4th quarter was interesting to watch.

So now it's almost Monday and I need another day to the weekend. Never enough time in a day is there?
