Sign your life away

Well, it's official! We are homeowners! Michael and I just got back from the title company where we signed our life away. Since this is our first time doing this I had no idea what to expect. It took about 2 hours, I was expecting about 1/2 an hour. Thankfully Michael's dad, who did our mortgage, was there to help with Kayleigh. I think she cleared the title company of all their candy.

We bought the house that we have been renting and living in for the past year. My parents owned it and they decided to sell. The price was great and so was the deal, so we couldn't say no. Thanks for such a great deal, Mom and Dad!

We are excited to feel more settled and scared to actually own a house. I think it will all take effect tomorrow when our homeowners insurance starts. Wow! It's a weird feeling. We hope this was a good move for our little family and hope to build lots of great memories here.

Iron

Yesterday I added a new decorative piece to our house. I went with my mom to Tai Pan-love that store. We each had a coupon they sent us in the mail for a scratch-and-win kind of thing. We both got $5.00 off our purchase. I've been wanting some of this iron stuff for awhile but didn't know where to hang it. At Tai Pan I saw this one hanging over a door and that gave me the idea. It was only 8 dollars, then with my five off, it was 3. I love a good deal!

We have corn

Tonight Michael and I (by flashlight) went out and picked our corn. We actually got quit a few ears, we'll see tomorrow when we try it how good they are. It seems that every night by the time Michael gets home we have a list of things to do. By the time we finish them it's late and dark outside, hence the flashlight.

You know what I hate about fresh corn? All the earwigs, worms and husking. Oh well, it sure tastes good. We have been enjoying some of my parents which has been great.

Before picking the corn, we went and purchased a twin bed for Kayleigh. We anticipate moving her into that in a few months. With the Labor Day sale at RC Willey we thought it might be a good time to buy. Last Saturday we drove to about 4 places and compared prices. We decided that RC Willey's price was pretty good and went back tonight to buy it. So we now have a mattress and box spring in our garage. We need to still find a metal frame to put it on, we are hoping we could maybe get one from the DI. I wouldn't ever get a mattress from there, but I think I could handle a frame.

Now maybe next month I can order that bedding I've been wanting to get her. It will be so sad to get rid of her crib and changing table. Our little girl is growing up! Thanks to my parents who let us borrow their van to pick up the mattress/box spring so we didn't have to pay 70 bucks to have it delivered.

Jungle Gyms

My cousin, BreeAnn planned a very fun Saturday night for us last weekend. We ate dinner at Paradise Bakery, our first time there. We really liked their cookies, and I enjoyed my sandwich, too. Then we went to Jungle Gyms, an indoor place for kids to ride rides and play arcades. Kayleigh really enjoyed it! When we walked in and she saw the rides she made her surprise face and got so excited. Her favorite ride was the swings, of course. But, she really liked the elephant ride as well, which is kind of like Musik Express at Lagoon. I was so glad that Kayleigh had fun since her Lagoon day was kind of ruined since she didn't feel very well.

BreeAnn and Tyler's little girl is also named Kaili, just spelled different. It was funny because we just had to call one name out and they both would turn to look. Kaili has the cutest smile and I wish we could get our Kayleigh to smile on demand for pictures. She doesn't look really happy in these, but she really was having fun. When the elephant ride started, she got a huge smile on her face and even laughed during the ride. That was Kaili's favorite ride.

Michael and Tyler enjoyed racing each other in the arcades, nice cheesy grin, Michael. :-) When we did Ski Ball ( I think that's what it is called) Kayleigh REALLY wanted to throw the ball, so we gave her a ball and she would roll it up, not very far, but she thought she was doing it, it was cute. At the end of the night we traded in our 25 tickets for some Tootsie Rolls and Sweet Tarts. Kayleigh enjoyed those on the ride home and quickly fell asleep. Fun fun!

Withdrawals

I am so sad that the Olympics are over! It was so fun to sit down and watch them every night. I loved the Gymnastics, volleyball and swimming the most. I am excited that the summer Olympics are only about 18 months away. I think it's great that the world can come together and compete for the gold. I am so proud to live in the USA! (After all, we did win the total count of medals.)

Friday night

Tonight we attended a viewing for our brother-in-law's father who passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer. I got Kayleigh all dressed up to go and once we got home I thought I'd take some pictures of her, she just looked so cute! The pictures of her looking out the window were because Michael was out mowing the lawn and she loves to watch him.

Finally!

After over a year I have finally found a wreath that I like for our family room. Thanks to my friend, Camie, who took me to a place in Ogden that sells wreaths. They have like a billion, it's crazy! I don't even know what it's called, it's just a farm that has all these little buildings that have wreaths all over that you can pick from. I really liked them and ended up getting 2, one for my front door, too.

Kayleigh enjoyed the trip up since the lady there showed her the 8 week old kittens (so little and cute) they had and gave her a sucker for the ride home.

Lagoon

On Tuesday we went to Lagoon with my parents, brother, sister, and her family. We all had a lot of fun! We were there from opening to closing which made for a long day in the sun. This was Kayleigh's first time at Lagoon. I don't think most 18 month olds go to Lagoon planning to ride rides, but since Kayleigh is so tall, she could go on most everything, kiddy rides that is.

The one thing she was too short for (by 2 inches) was the kid swings. She was literally devastated by this! She loves the swing at my mom's house so she recognized them when we got there. I think her favorite rides were the carousel, the airplanes, and the helicopters. I think that Puff scared her the most. She snuggled right up to me when it started to go and then with its abrupt stop she hit her head on the back of her seat, poor thing.

In the evening she did take a much needed hour nap in her stroller. Michael and I were grateful for this because we got to ride Wicked and The Spider twice while she slept. I think my favorite ride there is the Rocket. I love how I get scared every time I go on it, even though I know what is going to happen. I also love that I don't get sick when I ride it. I think that Kayleigh will really enjoy it next year. On Monday (the day before we went) she got an ear infection and I took her to the doctor to get antibiotics. I know that she was pretty tired and not feeling herself at Lagoon-poor girl. Some of the rides she cried on and her cousin, Grace, made sure to wipe her tears for her, it was really cute!

Just for fun

Here is a cute picture of Kayleigh. I love her blue shirt, Grandma Suzy gave it to her.

Harvesting time

Last week we picked our first green peppers. I was so excited! I made taco salad and we ate them with that. It was great to not have to buy any. Today I picked some more and noticed that finally one of our tomatoes is starting to turn red, yahoo!

Beijing 2008

I am so excited for the Olympics to be under way. I thought the opening ceremonies were great! I really liked the drummers at the beginning. I loved all the costumes and the parade of nations. It's amazing to me how many places there really are in the world. I think it's great for China to host them this year. I would love to be a reporter over there right now, how exciting!

There are a couple of cable channels that show 24 hour coverage of the Olympics. If I didn't have a life I'd love to just sit and watch it for the next 2 weeks. Hopefully I'll watch most of the prime time stuff, I'm excited!

Michael commented while watching the opening ceremonies that it's Kayleigh's first Olympic games. I don't think she has a clue of what's going on but she did watch a little of the ceremony with us and kept making her surprise face, it was cute.

Sound Wall

Hooray for us! They are putting in a sound wall by the freeway by our house. We are so excited. We hope it will really make a difference. I've never lived behind a sound wall so I don't know how good they are. I figure they've got to kind of work or else they wouldn't spend all the money to put them in. We'll see I guess. I'm hoping it will be done this week, they've already started putting the big slats in.

Coupons

Okay everyone out there, I am wondering if Costco takes manufacture's coupons. I have one for Huggies diapers and I'd love to use it, but don't want to look stupid at the check-out when I hand it to the checker and they say, "We don't take those."

Goodbye binki

Today we decided to say goodbye to Kayleigh's binkis. They have been her buddies for 18 months now. It is so sad! Her pediatrician said by 15 months they should be gone. Unfortunately, he told me this at her 18 mo. check-up so that's why we are just doing it now. I decided to have her "give" them to her cousin that is 2 months old, a baby that "needs" them. I just put her down for a nap and she's crying and saying, "Binki, binki!" I feel so bad but I know it's for the best.
