Our Thanksgiving Holiday

We had an enjoyable weekend. We loved having Michael home from work for a few day with us! Turkey day was spent with Michael's mom's side of the family. The food was really good! I think the best part of the day was that Kayleigh took a 2 hour nap at Michael's parent's house. I was amazed! She needed it though, and was so happy the rest of the night.

Friday we did not do any shopping, much to my dismay. I really would love to get up early and go shopping, but I'd want someone to go with and I'm not sure who would go with me. Plus, I'd want some money to spend so without that it's pretty pointless to go I guess. Funny thing is, I found out later on Friday that my parents went out at 4:30 in the morning! I totally would have gone with them if I'd known! Maybe next year we can plan it and I can go.

We did get all of our Christmas decorations out though. This has gotten me in the Christmas mood a little more now. I'm excited for the busy month ahead of us. I think our tree looks cute this year and we even put some garland outside on our front rail. Michael also got to go golfing, he played pretty good and had fun. That night we went to Wingers for dinner and finished the night off with some grocery shopping.

At Wingers Michael got their all you can eat sticky finger meal. Kayleigh wanted to try some of his chicken so he gave her a little piece. She chewed for a few seconds and then made the funniest face and said "Picy!" We are pretty sure she meant "Spicy" and the funny thing is we didn't even know she knew what that word meant! The sticky fingers are pretty spicy I think, we got a good laugh out of her!

On Saturday I worked in the morning while Michael watched Kayleigh and wrapped our tree trunk outside so it won't get damaged with the cold weather ahead. Michael ran some errands in the afternoon and I stayed home with Kayleigh. I had put her in her high chair for some lunch and she quickly fell asleep in her chair. I guess that's what happens when you won't take a nap when Mommy says it's time. It was pretty cute! I transported her to her room and she stayed asleep.

That evening we went to my parent's house for some soup and rolls. After dinner we tagged along as my parents and sister's family went to pick out Christmas trees.

There's a tree lot that our family has gone to over the years and liked the style of trees they have. We have a fake tree, but it was still fun to go and smell that wonderful pine smell! After two trees were picked out we had some hot chocolate and cream puffs. It was yummy!

As you all know from past posts on this blog, Kayleigh loves treats! Well, she now knows how to open the pantry door and get into the treat bowl. Today Michael and I were busy and when we hadn't heard Kayleigh we went searching. She was in our extra room in the corner opening a Hershey's Kiss. We both about died, it was so funny! Needless to say, the treat bowl has been moved, it's now on the top shelf where she cannot reach it. :-)

Things I am thankful for

With Thanksgiving being tomorrow and all I thought I'd jot down some things I'm thankful for. It's good for me to make lists like this because I tend to be the pessimistic person that thinks of only the things I don't have and need/want.

-Our house
-Kayleigh-what a good girl she is-I'm so glad she is healthy and growing properly
-My husband, Michael-all that he does for me
-Our jobs that support us
-Our cars, even if they both have dents in them
-Our families
-Running water and the fact that I don't have to use an outhouse
-Dishwasher
-Washer and Dryer
-A garage to park my cars in
-The scriptures
-The gospel
-Temples very close to my home
-Bells on Temple Square
-Friends
-Clothes
-Food
-Computers (e-mail and blogging, I just love)
-Shopping
-Babysitters
-Movies
-Music
-Baby Monitors
-Bibs
-Toys
-Nap time
-Sleep
-Make-up
-Jewelry
-Living prophet
-My organizational skills
-My cleaning skills
-Safe driving
-Water heater
-The technology to do c-sections, otherwise I'd be dead from child labor
-On-line banking
-Things to look forward to

We are so blessed. I love this time of year when we get to reflect on all the many wonderful things we have been given. I'm so excited to share in Kayleigh's experience of the holidays this year. I think she'll have a lot of fun. I thank my Heavenly Father for all that he has given me. I truly have so much, much more than I need.

Kayleigh's new hair-do

Hooray! Kayleigh's hair is finally long enough to do pig tails! I think it looks so cute! Of course she wouldn't smile for the pictures, it looks much cuter in person.

Tis the Season

I just finished watching Home Alone and enjoyed my first hot chocolate of the season. It was packed with mini marshmallows of course, the only way to drink hot cocoa. Let the holidays begin!

Go Cougars!!

It's been a great rivalry week! This is arguably the game with the most riding on it for both teams. I unfortunately will miss most of the second half (so those of you who might see me on Saturday night, DON'T TELL ME THE SCORE!! I'll be watching the rest of the game later that evening). To get you excited about tomorrow's big game, enjoy this video. Go Cougars!!!

Play Group

Today we decorated graham cracker houses at our ward's play group. Kayleigh LOVED being able to just sit and eat candy! Needless to say, I made the house while she ate. Now that we are home all she wants to do is eat the house! I keep telling her we have to wait till tonight and at least let Daddy see it before she eats it. Doing this activity kind of got me in the Christmas mood, then I stepped outside and it's so warm today that I'm not sure I'm in a Christmas mood anymore.

Super Saturday

I always love making new things at Super Saturday. I also love that it's pretty cheap. I'm excited to decorate with these this Christmas and winter.

A preview of Kayleigh's Christmas

When I was little I always wanted a kitchen set. I loved going to play at my cousin's house because they had one. So, after finding what I thought was a pretty good deal at Walmart.com I purchased one for Kayleigh for Christmas! We are so excited to give it to her!

One of the things that I had read on-line in the ratings of the kitchen was that it came in a lot of pieces and took a lot of time to put together. One of the dads said to not leave it until Christmas Eve to put together. Following his advice we put it together last Thursday. And oh boy, they weren't kidding when they said it came in a lot of pieces! You have to cut each one out before you can actually build the thing.

So I cut and Michael put together. We were a good little team I think, but it still took us about 2 hours to put together. And the dumb thing is, on the last piece that I was cutting out, I cut my finger with the utility knife. It hurt so bad! Thankfully it stopped bleeding pretty quickly and today it is feeling a lot better!

Now, does anyone have any good ideas on how I can wrap this for Kayleigh? I want it to be the last thing she opens on Christmas morning.

Fun with family

I've been slacking in the posts it seems with things we've been doing. Last weekend my cousin, BreeAnn, and her family came over, along with my sister, to watch the BYU game. Although we had kids running around all over we managed to still have a good time. BreeAnn and I ran to Subway to get some sandwiches to bring home for dinner. We all enjoyed those, along with chips and snacks. Thankfully BUY pulled out a win! Michael and Tyler would have been so mad if they had lost.

BreeAnn's little boy, Karson, is getting to be so big! Marie, BreeAnn and myself all commented on how everyone is growing up and it's funny that we all have kids now and have moved into the next phase of our lives. It will probably be Christmas before we are all together again. What's scary is that Christmas isn't that far away!

This past Friday night (two days ago) Marie and her two girls came to spend the night with us. Chris is in school on Friday night and Saturday morning so she thought it would be fun to come up here. Grace and Kayleigh were excited all day long to be together.

Once they got here we went to the local Arctic Circle and let the kids play on the toys while we ate. They enjoyed it so much! Kayleigh is getting better at climbing up stairs and going down slides.

After a quick trip to the grocery store for diapers we went home. We put the kids to bed and then attempted to watch the new Indiana Jones movie. Unfortunately, we all fell asleep. We were so tired!

On Saturday I had to go to work and then to our ward's Super Saturday so I wasn't around too much, but the girls had a lot of fun playing together. Chris joined us in the afternoon to watch the BYU game (another win!) and Marie watched all the kids while Michael put up our Christmas lights. The weather was perfect for putting up lights!

Last night we went with our friends to a private showing of the new movie about President Hinckley that Living Scriptures has made. They did 2 showings of the movie in the Legacy Theater for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Since we are in the Bells, we each got 2 tickets to go.

The show was really good! What I liked though was that some of the actors from the movie were there and we got to see them. The boys that acted out President Hinckley as a boy were sooo cute! Also, as we walked out of the theater, we were handed a free DVD of the show we'd just seen, how cool is that? This DVD will soon be available at Deseret Book.

Our first project as homeowners

With our existing sink rusting out more and more each week we decided it was time to replace it. Off to Home Depot we went to get all of the supplies. We asked an employee there to help us,especially since this was all new to us. Michael quoted Home Depot's tag line: "You can do it, we can help." The guy laughed and explained to us how to rip our old sink out and how to install the new one. He helped us get the supplies we needed and we were set.

While we picked everything out Kayleigh was a very big helper and sat very well in the cart. Since buying our house we've gotten coupons in the mail for "home" stores. One of these happened to be a Home Depot 10% off one, that was nice to use last night.

Once home we, I should say Michael, began the process. Ripping out the old sink was the hardest part. For this we called our friend and backyard neighbor, Adam, over to help us. With his and Michael's huge :-) muscles, they were able to pop it out.

Although it took lots of tools and time (we finished well after midnight--notice the time change on the pictures), I think it looks so good! We put in an all china sink so it won't rust. I am very impressed with my husband's handiness! I didn't know he had it in him. I'm going to have to brag now! I think I was a good assistant since I handed everything to him that he needed and I did the cleanup.

Doing this is got us excited to do other things to our house as we have the money to.

Family Pictures Autumn 2008

Thanks, Kortney, for all your time and effort in taking these pictures. Silly Kayleigh really didn't want to smile in any of our family shots. I'm trying to have a good attitude about it and realize that it's just how she is right now. I just wanted a really cute photo of all of us. There are ones that I like how Michael and I look, but then I don't like Kayleigh or vise verse. I do think we got some really cute ones of just Kayleigh so that's nice.

Mrs. Potato Head

Here's something Kayleigh loves to do. Guess she'll be wanting her ears pierced when she gets older.
