Technical Difficulties

Attention fellow bloggers! Our computer is currently in the shop as it continually has issues. Hopefully we'll have it back by Wednesday, if not possibly January 3rd, 2009. We'll do many updates at that time. Sorry to keep you on edge!

Kayleigh's Christmas photo shoot

I love Kayleigh's dress this year, and the best part of it, it's a hand-me-down and didn't cost a penny!

One of many family parties

Last night we enjoyed spending time together with the Lyman family, Michael's mom's side. We read story of Jesus' birth from the Bible, sang songs, and played a couple of games. Grandma also made her famous ice cream cakes and we ate those right up. Kayleigh loved the ice cream! We like living close to all of these people and are grateful for this holiday season. Enjoy some pictures from our night, including one of Kayleigh's cousin, Brooke.

Our grand ol' party...

at the Grand America! Yesterday we enjoyed a fun day as we set up for the party, ate lunch, set up some more and then had dinner. It was wonderful to have President Monson with us as our advisor, along with all of our great directors and staff.

President Monson reminded us that Christmas is about giving to those in need and told a neat story of a family who came from Germany many years ago who he, along with others, helped to remodel an apartment for them to live in in Salt Lake. He explained that just a few days ago he had received a phone call from a 100 year old woman wanting to thank him for his generosity so many years ago when her family came to the United States.

What is so neat about this story is that this family is related to me, on my dad's side. I feel extremely blessed to live here in the United States and enjoy the blessings of freedom that I do. I am grateful to those who blazed the trail for me and my own family to have it so easy here.

I am grateful in this time of uncertainty that Michael has a job that supports us, that we have a home and loving family around us. Merry Christmas!

Winter Wonderland

Yesterday and today we got lots of snow! This is the first big storm of the season. Unfortunately, we had to drive down town this morning in it. We saw 2 cars spinning in the middle of the freeway, so scary! I was a nervous wreck the whole way down, but we made it safely.

Once we got home we took Kayleigh out in it to play while we shoveled. She really seemed to like it! She even made a snow angel with Michael. I think she's so cute all done up in her snow suit. Now it really is feeling like Christmas. Soon it will be here!

Finished

We've had a long week this week, yet a really fun one. We rehearsed and performed many times! Also, we merged data and stuffed over 1300 name tags for a Christmas Party this coming Wednesday. Michael and I have been on the party planning committee for the past 2 years in charge of name tags. It's a fun thing for us to do. I just barely finished stuffing the last ones, yay! Here's some pictures of us.

4th Annual Christmas at the Kennard's

This year we were hesitant to have this party with Michael's friends from high school since we are so busy. But, after 2 of his friends were sad when they heard we weren't going to do it, we decided to fit it in. Last Saturday night we got together and had ham, potatoes, jello, green salad, rolls and dessert. It was all really good! Kayleigh got to play with RJ and Ari and she liked that. We enjoyed catching up with each other and enjoying some great food! We were kind of crowded in our small family room, but no one seemed to mind. I, of course, forgot to take pictures, so that's why I didn't post any.

St. Nicolas Day

Happy St. Nicolas Day! Well, okay, this was last Saturday but I'm just slow in posting about it. All our shoes went out on the night of the 5th and on the morning of the 6th St. Nicolas had left something for each of us. For Michael a new c.d., for me some Christmas blocks, and for Kayleigh some snowman magnets.

Temple Square

Last Friday night some friends from our ward invited us to go to Temple Square with them. We went after the ward party and even though it was freezing outside we had an enjoyable time. The lights were very pretty as usual. It was pretty busy down there but we got around fine. The nativity was especially neat since when Kayleigh saw it she said "Baby Jesus!" It was cute! Going down town really made me get into the Christmas spirit. Only a couple more weeks until Christmas!

The Festival of Trees

Yesterday Kayleigh and I went with my parents and two nieces to the festival of Trees. Growing up we used to go quite often but I haven't been in a few years. It was a lot of fun! Kayleigh did really well in her stroller for the first bit. Towards the end she was ready to get out and run around though. When she saw cute dolls or stuffed animals associated with the trees she would try to run under the ropes and get them. She kept saying "Mine!"

Nana and Grandpa bought her some cotton candy, jelly beans and popcorn, all of which she loved! What a fun day! It was so sad though to think of all the children at Primary Children's Medical Center that are suffering. I hope those kids have a Merry Christmas this year! I hope the Festival raised lots of money for them.
