On Sunday, Kayleigh and I headed down to St. George. I had never driven there myself and actually had never driven past Provo all by myself. I was kind of nervous about how Kayleigh would do and how the car would do, but we all made it just fine. We didn't even stop! I was very impressed with myself and Kayleigh. She did great! She looked at books, drew on her doodle board, watched part of Toy Story, and even slept for an hour and a half on the way down. We made it in just over 4 hours time. We stayed at Michael's sister's house. Kayleigh had a great time playing with her cousins, Tyler and Brooke. She would ask me all the time, "Where's Tyler?" She was his little shadow, it was cute! On Monday we went to a really fun park that had some cool toys. Kayleigh of course loved that. On Tuesday we went to Arby's for lunch and attempted to go shopping. It was a little hard with the kids but we managed to get to 2 stores and I did get some sandals for Kayleigh. My original plan was to come home on Wednesday (today) in the afternoon in time for Bells rehearsal tonight, but on Tuesday Kayleigh woke up with a runny nose and was congested. So at about 4:30 in the afternoon I thought I'd just head home. Kayleigh hadn't slept very good either night while we were there so I thought she'd do better in her own bed. We left at about 5:45, got gas, and we pulled in our driveway at 10:15. I think we did great, once again, with the drive. I feel so bad that we missed Tyler's baseball game and that we had to cut the trip short, but I didn't want the cousins getting sick, hopefully they don't. We'll just have to go again sometime this summer. It was really fun to see how excited Kayleigh was to see her dad after not seeing him for a couple days. She just hugged him over and over and had a huge grin on her face. Always nice to come home after a trip.

Visiting baby Abbie
After almost 2 months, Lance and Kellie (our high school friends) got to bring their cute, cute baby home from the hospital. She was born in February with some heart and bowel problems. After having open heart surgery, a bowel surgery, and a pace maker put in, she is now doing great! What a little fighter she is. She still has a feeding tube, but hopefully she'll be off of that soon.
Last Friday we got to go and see her at their house. Michael was able to visit them quite a few times in the hospital since he's right there for his work but Kayleigh and I had not seen her yet. It was neat to have Kayleigh meet her and get to hold her since she had gotten to know her name well as we prayed for her many times over the past few months. Abbie, you are so cute! We wish you the best as you continue to recover and grow.

Feelin' good
We got so much done today! I love those days when you feel like you used your time well and got things done. Michael and my dad got the other light up by our garage. It makes our house look so much more balanced. They also put up the rest of the rain gutter in the front. I am thrilled!
In the afternoon we went to Home Depot and picked out some paint chips. We'll take them home and stew over them for a few days/weeks I'm sure and then decide to take the plunge and paint!
Now off to plan a Sunbeams lesson for in the morning...

Yard projects
This week we've been busy trying to get a few things done before the rain hits. After what we've done in the dark, watch, it probably won't even rain! We ripped out some grass and put cement in it's place. The grass was crappy and never got any water so out it came, I think it looks a lot better.
We also killed grass around our house, covered it with newspaper and put some dirt on it. In about a month we'll mix some nutramulch with it, till it all up, and then it'll be ready to plant bushes and flowers. I am excited! These things will help our yard to look nicer. We still have one more light to put up by our garage and finish our rain gutter, then we'll move on to more inside stuff. Fun fun!

What happens when a little girl gets sick
Some of her bruises from the pokes.
Kaili and Kayleigh at the park, don't they look cute?
We've been busy this week and so this post is late in getting written, but here it is. Last Saturday Kayleigh woke up at 6:30 a.m. throwing up. We cleaned it up and didn't think too much of it because she was acting completely normal. As I was getting ready for work she finally went back to sleep. When she woke up Michael gave her some Power Aid and a cracker because she was starving and asking for milk (we didn't give her milk though). While I was at work I think she threw up 2 more times, probably because the food she ate.
By this point I was so bummed because we had planned for my cousin, her husband and 2 kids to come up for the day. The guys were going to go golfing and the girls/kids were going to go to Old Navy and to the park. Anyway, Michael called them and told them what was going on. They were still fine to come since Kayleigh was still acting fine and didn't have a fever or anything.
When I got home from work the guys headed out and we waited for Kayleigh to wake up. I ended up getting her up so we could be on our way. She seemed really tired and clingy, I felt so bad for her. At Old Navy she kind of dry heaved a couple of times but there wasn't anything for her to throw up. I just held her and my cousin's daughter pushed my cart for me and was my little helper. I got some great clearance and sale stuff-seven items for 36 bucks! The funny thing about Kayleigh is that after she dry-heaved she said "I want to go to the park." We were just laughing at her!
So we headed to the park and Kayleigh had a burst of energy. (Now all the moms reading this are probably freaking out that I took my sick kid to the park to spread the germs, but really, I figured it was just something she ate since she didn't have any other symptoms.) Kayleigh had a lot of fun going down the slides and feeding the ducks and seagulls. Once Kayleigh saw the bread/crackers we were feeding the animals she wanted some since she was starving. I let her have a half a piece of bread and some fishies, along with some Power Aid I took with us.
On the way home my cousin, BreeAnn, had a great idea to get some ice cream. We went to the drive thru at Arctic Circle. I think we were in that drive thru for an eternity! Poor Kayleigh threw up right in the car all over herself and her car seat. Thankfully I had brought a bag and was able to catch some of it. At this point I felt so bad for Kayleigh and for my cousin, since we were in her car! Now, just to give you an idea how long we were in that drive thru, Kayleigh threw up, I cleaned it up with wet wipes, went in to Arctic Circle to throw the bag away, came back to the car and then we finally got our shakes.
We got home, I more thoroughly cleaned every thing up and got Kayleigh down for a nap. Oh yeah, before Kayleigh went down she was standing in the door way of the garage door and the door shut on her (accidentally) and the force of the door sent her in a flip down the wood stairs in the garage. By now she was screaming, I was swearing, and oh the poor thing! Thankfully she didn't get cut or bruised or anything from that.
After things calmed down BreeAnn and I went to get Chili's take out while the guys watched t.v. After dinner BreeAnn and family headed out. I still feel bad about the whole thing and we owe them a night to try that all again without so much drama! They were awesome though, thanks guys!
Once they left Kayleigh had thrown up two more times and had gotten a fever. Since she couldn't keep anything down I was worrried about how I would give her Tylenol without it just coming up again. At about 8 that night we decided to take her in to Kids Care. I was worried she was getting dehydrated and then the fever on top of that.
Thankfully Kids care wasn't busy at all and we got right in. The doctor said we had 2 options, we could give her some Zofran (anti-nausea) and give her small amounts of fluid often and see if she could keep that down or start an I.V., get her pumped with fluids and be able to take her home to get some sleep and hope it would pass in the night. I picked the latter option since she hadn't kept small amounts of fluid down the whole day.
And this is where the story gets intersting, are you still reading? Two nurses came in to start the I.V. They gave her some Zofran and began the hour or more long process of poking and prodding her five/six times (I can't remember) and still NOT gettiin an I.V. in. It was horrible, awful, and heart wrenching! I don't know how people watch their kids go thru stuff like that. Poor thing had 4 people laying on her while she's just a screaming, "Mommy, it hurts!!" and "Be nice!!" At one point, Michael, Kayleigh and myself were all crying. Half way thru that mess they gave her a Tylenol suppository to help with her 103 degree temp. (I always wondered how those worked, they are pretty slick!)
The doctor also wanted to make sure Kayleigh didn't have a urinary tract infection or strep. Because of this they needed a urine sample. You might ask how you get a urine sample from a 2 year old who's dehydrated, well, I'll tell ya. They stick a plastic pee bag (that's what I call it) right to your skin between your legs and leave it there till you go. And keep in mind it sticks like a sticker and hurts when coming off like when you take a band aid off. Once again, what a trooper she was! We didn't end up getting a sample that night. We finally did the next day and I took the sample back to the clinic.
Since the I.V. wasn't working we went back to option one of giving her one teaspoon of Pedialyte every 10 minutes and hoped she would keep it down. She did, and after an hour of that (11:20 at night) we were able to take her home. They sent us with more Zofran, suppositories and Pedialyte. She had a strict diet to follow the next couple of days and by Monday she was feeling a lot better.
On Wednesday I called to get the results of her urine test, everything normal, so that is good. She did throw up once on Tuesday and once on Wednesday and I got all worried again. But we talked with a pediatrician we know and she said that when kids throw up a lot there are certain foods (citrus and tomato) that will set their stomachs off and make them throw up. Since we had had pinapple and Spaghetti this made sense and I was okay again.
Now it's Friday and I'm beginning to think life is normal again. Whew! I hope we don't ever have to repeat that again. On Sunday and Monday night Kayleigh had a couple of night mares-probably of a needle trying to go into her arm, hmm, I wonder why? Thanks to everyone who called and thought about us over the week.

Easter Part 3 (the final part)
Sunday was an enjoyable day as well. Since Michael and I were on the broadcast we weren't able to attend church. We made the comment that Easter is a Sunday when most non-church goers actually do go to church and here we are not going-kinda funny!
Kayleigh had slept over at my mom and dad's the night before and so she went to church with them. My mom said she did really well, hooray!
In the afternoon we all took a nice, long needed nap before heading to Michael's parent's house for hamburgers, chips and salads. Kayleigh got a new book from Grandma Suzy and Grandpa Royal. She has enjoyed coloring in it. Michael also took her over to the pond on the golf course at Oakridge, she enjoyed that too.
After getting home around 8 I decided to hurry and dye some eggs with Kayleigh since I had boiled them on Friday night. We got her bib on and began. She did great at not making a mess and I think she had fun. She's never had a boiled egg until that night, I don't think she's a huge fan. She did like making them pink though.
Easter was busy but lots of fun for us. I hope each year it will be a time when Kayleigh can get together with cousins and enjoy the bunny/eggs part of it as well as learn about the Resurrection of our Savior. I am grateful for his sacrifice for me and that he lives again. In turn I can live again and be forgiven of all my imperfections.

Easter Part 2
On Saturday night we headed to my parent's for our annual fondue dinner and Easter Egg hunt in the dark with flashlights. I was really excited for it this year since last year Kayeligh was still pretty young and didn't quite get it. This year Kayleigh LOVED it! She had to hold her Easter basket and kept saying "More!" The grandparents sure spoiled the kids, the girls (Kayleigh and Grace) each had 50 eggs to find. Some had money and some had candy. They also got a toothbrush, Frisbee, book, and little stuffed animal.
As we all know, Kayleigh loves treats and as we emptied all the eggs she was in heaven! She ate a ton of candy! My dad was worried she would get sick, but she didn't. Before the egg hunt my mom had a little story prepared that she told the girls with pictures they got to hold about the real meaning of Easter, it was cute.

Easter Part 1
We had such a fun weekend celebrating Easter with family. Kayleigh enjoyed everything about it. It all started on Saturday when Michael took Kayleigh (I was at work) to my dad's mom's house for an Easter egg hunt. On the way home from that she wanted to eat everything she had found, no surprise there. Thanks, Omi, for putting that together for the grand kids and great-grand kids. Once I got home from work I took Kayleigh into her room and played with her while the Easter Bunny came to our house. She had a great time looking around our house for surprises the he left. She was sad she couldn't actually see the bunny, we told her he was busy and had to go and visit her other cousins, too. She did actually get to see the Easter Bunny at the mall on Friday though. He gave her a sucker and she was thrilled.
Kayleigh got a set of bells for Easter which she has loved playing. On Sunday when she watched Michael, Marie and I on the Music and the Spoken Word broadcast playing our bells she had to run and get hers and start playing, it was so cute! They came with a music sheet showing you how to play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and a couple other songs. She always wants us to help her play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and she sings along. She also loves playing her Hungry Hungry Hippo game.

Chalk and bubbles
We got out yesterday and had a great time. I told Kayleigh all day that when Daddy got home we would go out and do bubbles. She was very excited all day and we finally went out around 6. She enjoyed bubbles, chalk, riding her bike and playing on the neighbor's swing set.
Michael mowed and trimmed our front lawn, first mow of the season. It smelled great! He also put up some rain gutter on the front of our house. It was needed badly. Whenever there is any water on the roof it just down pours onto the grass, making big divots in the grass and also the water runs to the foundation and down into the crawl space. So now that will be solved, I think a good investment. He had lots of help from my dad, thanks Dad. And as always, it takes longer that they expected so they didn't quite finish but hopefully on Saturday Michael can do the rest-as long as the weather is good.
Michael is learning so much with this house. I think it's awesome he takes on these projects and learns how to do them, love ya honey!
