A funny from today

I'm writing this thinking it's still Sunday but I know it's officially Monday.   Anyway, today after dinner the funniest thing happened.  It's one of those things that might not be funny to you, but when it happened we were just dying of laughter!  Cute Landon finished dinner first and he was just playing around.  As he did so, his pants started to get lower and lower.  Finally they just came right off and the best part was he didn't seem to notice or care.  Michael, myself and Kayleigh were laughing way hard!

Landon definitely is a boy, into everything and trying to climb on things not meant to climb on.  But he does some pretty silly stuff and we sure love him!

Kayleigh having a turn, too.

With my sister having her baby and all, they spent a few days at my mom and dad's house last week.  Since we live close we have to be in on the fun, too so we spent lots of time there.  Kayleigh loved every second of it!  When my mom pulled in the driveway with and Marie and the girls, Kayleigh was so excited to see them.  With Samantha's birth, these cousins hadn't seen each other in about two weeks which is probably the longest they have gone without seeing each other.  They really missed each other and it was cute to see how excited they were to see each other.  They all gave BIG hugs!

One of the fun things we did while they were here was break in our new pool.  We got a little blow up pool at Walmart and of course Kayleigh couldn't wait to try it out.  Amazingly we had one day in the 80's last week and we were able to try it out.  The girls loved it!  Kayleigh and Grace played in/around it for the whole afternoon.  Somehow I don't think it will be as much fun when it's just me, Landon and Kayleigh in our backyard.

Grace had been dying to see Kayleigh's new pink room, so last Friday they came to our house to play for awhile.  They girls dressed up and ran around and had fun.   Marie gave them the idea to put Samantha in the baby doll stroller and of course they loved that and all had to have a turn pushing her around.  I don't think Samantha loved it too much.

Now they've gone back home but we know we'll see them soon.  Our family just keeps on growing, it's fun!  My parents have 8 grandchildren now.

Baby Samantha

As of June 2nd, I have a new niece!  My sister gave birth to little Samantha Marie, and she sure came quickly!  Cute little Samantha had to stay in the hospital for a few days.  For some reason she couldn't keep her own body temperature, had fluid in her lungs and needed some oxygen to breathe.   My sis also really struggled after the delivery.  She couldn't stop bleeding and after losing over 2 liters of blood, having two blood transfusions, a trip to the ER and lots of ultrasounds, they finally did a D & C.   In doing this they found a piece of placenta that had been left behind.  Now Marie is doing better each day but still is really weak and tired.  When you lose so much blood, it just takes time  for your body to replace it and feel normal again.

We are so glad that both of them are okay now.  I know that many of you prayed for them and they appreciate it so much.  Hopefully things can calm down a little now...

The finished product

Here it is a few weeks later already, but we finally hung Kayleigh's things back up on her walls.  I love how it turned out!  Before we painted her letters were just straight across and I like this design better.  I also sprayed her letters and shelf so they are shiny now.  I love the contrast of colors.  And yes, she is asleep in her bed when I took these pictures tonight.  Hey, you gotta do it sometime, right?

Happy Father's Day

Just wanted to quickly say, before the day is officially over, Happy Father's Day to Michael.  He is such a great dad.  When I was dating him I knew from the beginning that he would be a great dad.  Kayleigh and Landon just love him!  They love wrestling with him and when he comes home each day they get so excited.  Michael helps so much with them, too.  He is even known to get up in the night with them.  When Landon was a little baby he would take Friday and Saturday night feedings so I could sleep the whole night through.  Sometimes that's how I got thru the week, just knowing I could stay in my bed the whole night.  I don't think too many dads do that.

I  am so grateful for him and that my kids have the best daddy!  Happy Father's Day!

Preview of our Memorial Day weekend project

Friday night when it all started Kayleigh could not wait to paint!  I don't thing she realized all the prep work first, such as taping everything!
The before: boring, off-white, flat paint walls.
Kayleigh giving the roller a try.  I told her that I didn't even know how to do that and she said, "It's really easy Mom, you just go up and down and then it sticks on."

Poor Landon didn't get to be involved too much but he sure wanted to.  Climbed to the top of this ladder by himself.    Most of the work was done during his sleeping time.
 What a helper.
The finished project, not a great picture.  Accent wall pink, other walls Baked Scone (tan) and ceiling/trim/door white.  All satin finish.  New blinds and light fixture.  It looks so good!

We painted Kayleigh's room for our holiday. I am so proud of us that we, for the most part, knocked this out in one weekend.  After Landon's room took weeks when we did it, I was a little apprehensive about this, but I think we learned a lot from Landon's and could go faster this time.  Kayleigh has been wanting her room pink since we painted Landon's room.  We just kept telling her we would do it and we finally did.  She really likes it and was a pretty big help during the process.

She got to sleep in Landon's room for three nights and they both liked that.  The first night Landon was asleep already when Kay went to bed so that was easy.  The next night they were awake together in there and Landon loved it!  He played peek a boo from his crib with her forever.  She soon fell asleep, only after telling him to "go to sleep young man!" but he stayed up for awhile before he finally conked out.  Silly kids.

We haven't gotten things back on the walls yet and the closet doors are in the garage waiting to be painted and put back on, but other than that we are done.  I am happy we could do it for her and it really looks nice.  A fresh coat of paint and a couple new things can do a long way!  When we are all done I will get some more pictures that will hopefully be better of the finished project.

Kayleigh just finished pre-school!  (Well, last week.)  She went to a lady a few blocks up from us who did it out of her basement.  Kayleigh really enjoyed it all year long.  It was Tuesday and Thursday mornings for a couple of hours.  She made new friends and got to do some cool, fun things.  Since she is only 4 she will get to do another year of pre-school before going to Kindergarten . She is going to attend the same place this fall.

Kayleigh couldn't wait for her program, she was so excited!  I knew that they'd been working on songs to perform in class and I'd heard her sing bits and pieces throughout the year so I was excited too, to hear how they really go.

Michael took the morning off from work so he could come which was fun.  My mom and brother came as well as Michael's mom.  It was fun to have them all there to see Kayleigh.  She did such a good job!   She knew all the songs and the actions and what to do when.  You could tell she was so proud of what she'd learned and wanted to show it off.  She was just grinning from ear to ear!  One of the moments that we just about died of laughter was when they sang this song about showing the world you are sad/mad/happy.  Kayleigh's mad face was hilarious!  What a cutie she is!

They also sang a song about the alphabet and that was fun to hear because she has sung that a lot at home.  They also did a song about how they are "H-A-P-P-Y" and with each letter they tapped two sticks together and then it was kind of like B-I-N-G-O where they wouldn't say the letter, etc.  They also did "Three Little Speckled Frogs" and a few other songs.

Kayleigh was sick earlier in the week and Michael and I were just praying she'd be better for her program.  Luckily she was and it was a really fun morning to share with her.  Way to go sis!
