Samantha's baby blessing

Today we headed down to be with Marie and her family.  They blessed Samantha Marie.  She was so cute and behaved really well!  Our kids on the other hand, didn't behave so well.  During Sacrament, Kayleigh was coloring like she always does during church.  Well, she got mad at herself for scribbling on one of the pages.  Once she did it she wanted to erase it but obviously crayon doesn't erase.  So out of nowhere she chucks her coloring book over her head and it flies almost two rows back almost hitting a guy in the head.  Yeah, I wanted to crawl under the bench, it was awful!!  Michael took her out immediately and she was not happy the rest of the time, naughty girl.  Landon couldn't sit thru a meeting without screaming his loud scream, but luckily I just covered his mouth and it wasn't too bad.

I was thrilled when it was over and we could just go to my sister's house.  Man alive, sometimes you just wonder where your kids get it from.  Kayleigh is always pretty good in Sacrament.  I don't remember the last time we had to take her out.  Hopefully we can move on from today...

As you can tell from the pictures, Kayleigh loves her cousin.  It kind of helps that she's a girl and really cute.  Kayleigh is dying to know, as we all are, what we are having.  (Wednesday can't come soon enough for us to find out.)  She will be devastated if it's another boy.  In her words she already has a little brother and doesn't need another one.  We've said many times that Jesus gets to choose and not us.  Then she replies with, "Well, Jesus knows what I'm thinking and He knows that I want it to be a girl."  After the ultrasound we might have some trouble.  Wish us luck!

The Pumpkin Patch

I can't believe how fast this year has gone!  The holiday season is upon us and it's just crazy.  I love fall time, it's my favorite time of year.  I love all the activities that begin and the time with family.  Last week my sister slept over at our house with her kiddies and the following day we decided to take them to one of the local pumpkin patches.  It was really fun!  My mom and Nathan came along, too.

We found two great pumpkins and Landon thought his "ball" was pretty neat.  He kept rolling it out of the cart which wasn't very helpful, but he thought it was neat.  It was the perfect day to go, weather wise, and we got out of there only spending $4.75.  What a great deal for an hour of fun!  One of these years we'll maybe get Michael to come with us.

Call us band nerds, we can take it

We recently went to Davis Cup, our old high school band competition.  It's held at Davis and a fun little event for our family to go to.  This year my mom came with us and we sat by some people from our ward (Kayleigh's primary teacher) so we had extra company.  Towards the end, Michael's dad also showed up so we got to see him, too.  We took some popcorn for the kids to be entertained but the bands really kept them pretty entertained.  Landon really liked it I think, like father like son.  Maybe he'll play the drums one day.

It kind of made for a late night, especially because we stayed for the awards, but it was okay.  Davis came in 2nd after American Fork, boo, but we still cheered really loud!  Kayleigh thought it was so cool that she could cheer as loud as she wanted.  I even told her she could scream, which she did, and she loved it!  I thought it would be way cold, but it really wasn't too bad.

Mason's birthday party

 Mason and his mommy

A few weekends ago we drove up to Logan to celebrate Mason's birthday with him and his family.  We have really missed our friends, Caprice and Tyler and their kids, since they moved.  Thankfully we still get together every once in awhile.

His party was Mickey themed and it was fun!  I think Kayleigh was the only one that would actually put on the Mickey party hat.  Landon LOVED all the balloons that were there, it was fun to watch him play with them.  We ended up staying awhile after the party and the kids had fun playing with all of Mason's new toys.  He got a couple of toy character cars from  the movie Cars and we quickly realized that Landon loved them!

Thanks for the hot dogs and cupcakes and a fun treat bag to take home, guys.  We had fun!  I'll admit though, the car ride home at 11:30 p.m. wasn't fun.  Especially because Landon never fell asleep and Kayleigh only fell asleep once we got to Ogden.  I'm not sure why Landon hates the car so much.  His screaming in the car is the worst!

Helping Daddy and fun outside

I usually try to help with the lawn mowing at our house.  It seems that Michael is always rushing to do it when he gets home from work before it gets dark.  But this year, due to the pregnancy, I haven't helped at all.  We quickly learned that Landon could be easily entertained during the mowing if he got to ride on Daddy's back.  It's the cutest thing to see them out together.  Landon really likes it and insists that he wears a hat to do it.  I think that's because one time Michael wore a hat, too.

It all works pretty great for him to ride in the pack until Michael "forgets" he's on there and mows under a tree ducking down and the branch whips Landon in the face.  Poor little guy!  He had a few scratches but they healed quickly.

Kayleigh loves to be outside as well.  She loves riding her bike that she outgrew last year.  She really needs a new one, maybe Santa can bring one...

Do we allow climbing on the wall?

I guess I have to answer yes to that question.  For some reason Kayleigh started doing this and now her brother has followed suit.  (He likes to do what big sis does whether it's good or bad.)  I think Kay likes to do it because it's like a "trick" to her that is pretty cool.  We've got some silly kids running around our house.

A costume preview

Well, this is just Kayleigh modeling Landon's costume for this year.  It was pretty funny how it happened.  The day we went and bought this costume I heard Kayleigh just bust up laughing down the hallway.  She came walking in the kitchen all dressed in the dragon costume.  It was all her idea and I didn't even know/help her.  I actually laughed pretty hard, too, which I think she thought was cool.  Needless to say, it's a little small for her.

Lifetime Products

Last Thursday Kayleigh got a really fun opportunity and I wanted to write about it before I forget.  So here's the story:  My parents have a very nice, beautifully landscaped yard.  It's kind of their hobby and they've put so much work into it.  Anyway, a guy from Lifetime Products (they make swing sets, tables, basketball hoops, etc.) came walking through their neighborhood one day.  He saw my parent's yard and knocked on the door.  He wanted to know if they could use it for a photo shoot of one of their new products.  Cool huh?

My mom said yes and plans got underway.  The guy asked if my mom knew of any kids that could be in the shoot.  He was specifically looking for a 4 yr. old and a 5 yr. old.  My mom thought well, yeah, I have two grand kids those ages.  So Kayleigh and my niece, Grace, got to be in the shoot, along with some other kids.  I signed her modeling waver, it was kind of funny.  Kayleigh looked forward to the day of the shoot for like a week!

The night before the shoot Lifetime came and set up a huge, super nice swing set in my parent's yard.  The next day (last Thursday) was the shoot at 3-5 p.m.  I, unfortunately, was at work during this but my mom and sister told me how it went.  I guess Kayleigh was a little shy at first but she followed her cousin (who is not shy) around and warmed up to it all.

I guess the guy in charge knew the other kids there so he seemed to be focusing his time more on those kids.  Well, both Grace and Kayleigh noticed this and were kind of sad about it.  Grace, being how she is, chimed in to the guy that he needed to take more pictures of her and Kayleigh.  Way to go Grace!  So after she said that he did.

They took lots of pictures and even did a video that will be posted on YouTube.  (I'll share the link when I get it.)  Each child got a $50 Walmart gift card which Kayleigh thinks is so cool!  (I think it's cool too!)  She's already spent some of it on markers, crayons, a coloring book and a new Rainbow Dash baby pony.

My mom got to pick something out of the Lifetime catalog to keep.  She chose the airplane teeter totter.  The guy said that was a little more than he was planning on but since she had been so nice he would fudge a little.  The grand kids are going to love it!

The day after the shoot the swing set was taken down and all my mom's grand kids were sad.  The Lifetime guy said there's a way to remedy that.  Hmm...I don't think my parents are going to buy that huge swing set.  :-)   Seriously, how cool though?

Landon's love of $$

Last Christmas, Landon got a bank from Grandpa and Suzy.  In it was some coins and dollar bills.  Recently Landon has been loving to play with the money.  At first he would just want me to take the coins out and he'd put them in the bank.  Then he started lining them up on his legs like this.  I have no idea why, but it's the funniest thing.

Red Butte Gardens

A few weeks ago the U sponsored a Family Night at Red Butte Gardens.  They had booths set up on household health and safety.  We decided since it was free that we'd go for something fun to do.  They had advertised that some PBS characters would be there.  Of course this made Kayleigh excited!

When we first walked in we saw Curious George.  I was happy about that because Kayleigh loves watching Curious George, so of all the characters to be there, he was a good one.  When we went up to talk to him, she got all scared and Landon was super scared, he was crying.  So later we went back, because of course she was sad she didn't give him a hug, and she got to get a picture with him and hug him.

We browsed thru the booths where the kids got some coloring books about safety and we even got a couple t-shirts for the kids.  Kayleigh thought the free stuff was neat, especially when they handed out candy.

After the booths we spent some time in the gardens. They were very pretty and relaxing. For some reason Kayleigh was in a picture taking mood and she kept wanting Michael to take her picture. We did get some cute ones though, always nice. Landon was a trooper to hang out in the stroller for the evening. Just after 6 we headed home. It was a fun little activity for our family to end the summer season.
