We had a nice, relaxing vacation weekend.  It's always nice to have Michael home an extra day to be with us.  Saturday we enjoyed a cool thunderstorm and a double rainbow, Kayleigh thought it was so cool!  I love when fall comes and the weather cools off.  The storms that weekend were so nice and got me excited for cooler weather.
Then Monday we offered to take the kids to a movie at Kaysville Theater or swim in the backyard.  They chose swimming.  I was kind of surprised but hey, whatever makes them happy, right?

Cherry Hill

Okay, that's quite the picture overload but they are all so fun I just posted them all.  I am realizing now that I did a horrible job of capturing Michael in a photo that day.  :-(  Michael was there with us the whole day though.  Wyatt hung out with us until about 3:00 in the afternoon when my dad came and picked him up.  Thanks, Mom and Dad, for watching him the rest of the day.
As we sun screened everyone up upon our arrival Kayleigh could hardly stand it she was so excited to start playing!  Landon was nervous at first but by the end of the day he was going down the kiddy slide by himself and jumping into my arms from the side of the pool.
Both Kayleigh and Landon loved the lazy river.  Wyatt, however, cried any time water touched him, poor baby!  In the afternoon Kayleigh decided it’d be fun to go down Cardiac Canyon.  I was proud of her because she was nervous to do it since there are a couple waterfalls you have to go under but she did it.  I think she went about 5 times after the initial run.
The blue tube waterslides are my favorite thing to do there.  Since part of the slides are covered and dark the kids don’t love them.  What’s nice is that you can take them down on your lap but convincing them to go down is still hard.  For one of our runs, Kayleigh and Landon waited at the bottom while Michael and I rode down.  I’m sure as they grow older that will change.
We stayed right up until the last minute of closing, the kids really loved it!  I did run Kayleigh to her dance class in the afternoon so she wouldn't miss out.  It was a nice “goodbye” to summer.  Kayleigh started school just a week later.

The Tree House Museum and a train ride

Our family enjoyed the Pruess summer activity a lot this year!  We got to camp out in Nana and Grandpa’s backyard.  Kayleigh and Landon got to sleep with the cousins and Grandpa in the tent trailer.  Kayleigh loved the tent trailer and a thought it was so cool.  She wants us to buy one now but I think our tent will have to do for awhile.
The next morning we caught Front Runner at the Layton Station and headed up to Ogden.  It was about a 20 minute ride.  Landon really had a great time on the train, he loves trains and this was right up his ally.  Then we walked for about 15 minutes up to the museum.
Even though it was a Saturday the museum wasn’t busy at all, it was so nice!  They don’t allow strollers in their museum.  This was a little tricky with Wyatt but we managed.  The museum was neat.  They had a lot of little themed sections for the kids to explore.  The lower level had lots of different countries depicted.  There were outfits to dress up in if you wanted and a couple activities to do.  The kids liked the tee pee and the Mongolian home.  Also on the main floor was a little place with about 4 different train sets and Landon could have stayed there all day, literally.  He loved it!
On the upper floor there was a castle with a giant chess set.  Michael and Grandpa spent some time there.  Also up there was a little hospital.  Kayleigh was in love with the nursery and the babies in it.  She kept calling it the NICU which I got a kick out of.  She kept begging to go back to the NICU.
In the middle of the museum is a huge tree.  You climb up the stairs in the trunk of the tree or climb up the outside of it.  There are some fun bird costumes you can wear as you play around the tree.  Landon dressed as a bird and it was so cute but I didn’t get a picture.
Another part that was Kayleigh’s favorite was the play.  There is a little theater and an employee that tells a story and helps some volunteers from the audience act it out.  Kayleigh, Grace and Phoebe got to be the three sisters in the play.  They were so well behaved!   As their parents in the audience we were so proud of them as they listened and did what they were told.
In the play there was an “older sister” out of the 3 sisters.  Because Kayleigh is the tallest of the 3 the employee just assumed Kayleigh was the oldest.  It was funny!  We were laughing as we watched her be picked as the oldest.  After Kayleigh thought it was cool too that she got to be the oldest sister.
Once the play was over Kayleigh wanted to do another one.  She’s even put on a play here at home with Landon since doing it at the museum.  Maybe one day she’ll be a little actress!
We ate lunch at the Pizza Factory close by the museum.  After lunch we went back to the museum and let the kids play some more.  The activity was a huge hit at our house.  Kayleigh and Landon ask all the time if we can go back.  The ride home on the train was fun too and it was nice to get back home after a weekend of being away.  We love our cousins and family and it was great to be with them.

Kay, Wyatt and Landon all in Kayleigh's bed.
I thought this was so funny, both kids zoned to the tv.  Too bad I can't remember what they were watching.
Love his face here!
Awe!

Kay's haircut in prep for school to start

Landon wanting to pose because Kayleigh did.  He's in dire need of a cut!

My mom had told me that JCPenny was doing free haircuts in the month of August for kids K-6 grade.  Since Kayleigh hadn't had a cut in a long time, I thought this would be a great time to get one.  Making the appointment was a little crazy but worth it for the free cut.  I had to call a call center in Milwaukee that put a request in for me then the actual salon called and scheduled a time, then had to reschedule.  Anyway, like I said, worth it.
Kayleigh got about 3 inches cut off and it's so much nicer for me to not have so much hair to brush.  I only say that because Kayleigh hates when I brush her hair, not because I mind doing it.  I think she has the most sensitive head of anyone I know.  She originally was going to have them cut 4 inches off but she got a little nervous on the way to the salon and decided that 3 would be better.  She loves her hair long but just hates the brushing everyday.

Family scripture study

Quite awhile ago I heard a lady talk in conference about how her granddaughter read/repeated one verse a night from the scriptures.  While it took a long time to read the whole Book of Mormon, it's how their family started to read with their kids.  I really liked the idea and decided that we could try it with Kayleigh.
We started with one verse each and then we graduated to two verses each.  Just recently we added Landon into our rotation.  He is so cute to listen to as he repeats his verse a few words at a time.   Last night his verse in Mosiah 5:12 read, "I say unto you, I would that ye should remember to retain the name written always in your hears, that ye are not found on the left hand of God, but that ye hear and know the voice by which ye shall be called, and also, the name by which he shall call you."
Well, he was being kind of funny as he read it and Kayleigh had started to giggle.  As he said the "by which" part it turned into "bitch".  By the end of the verse we were in an uproar and cute Kay and Landon had no idea why!  Oh my gosh, the things kids say.  It was hilarious!
