Baby blessings

Today my sister and brother both blessed their new baby girls, Phoebe and Miriam respectively. They just did it at my parent's house which was nice. We had an enjoyable evening with family and friends. Kayleigh loved playing on the swing and tramp. It was hard to break her away to take all the pictures that everyone wanted to. I think we hopefully got some good pictures though.

Bedding

Click here to see the bedding I want to get for Kayleigh when she transitions into a a twin bed.

Kayleigh's new shelf

I've been wanting to get this shelf from Robert's Craft and finally did last week. It was 75% off and I thought, "I have to get it!" So I brought it home and painted it to go with Kayleigh's room. Her bedding in her crib is purple and green. She also has wooden letters of her name that are painted purple and green. I thought it turned out pretty good.

Michael and I have been talking that around Christmas/Kayleigh's 2nd birthday we are going to transition her into a twin bed. I've found some bedding I really want to get her. When I do I'll have to repaint the shelf and her letters to match but that's okay-it's not too hard.

18 month stats

I took Kayleigh to the doctor today for her 18 month check-up. She weighs 30 lbs. and is 34 inches tall. Both of those are in the 97th percentile. Wow she is big! The doctor says that everything is looking good and she seems healthy and strong. Now we don't have to go back in to see Dr. Doug until she is 2.

Hogle Zoo

We had so much fun today! I haven't been to the zoo in over ten years, I think. Kayleigh has never been, so today was her first. It was fun to take her and see her enjoy it. We saw bears, zebras, elephants, alligators, snakes, monkeys, camels, a tiger, gorillas, giraffes, lots of birds, penguins, buffalo, bats, fish, turtles, turkeys, rode the train and played on the playground. (We also saw lots of little monkeys, birds, reptiles and spiders that I don't know the names of.) Kayleigh was pretty tired and even slept for about 20 minutes in her stroller. I felt bad for her because while she was asleep the other girls rode the Carosel, which I think Kayleigh would have loved. Oh well, we'll be going to Lagoon next month and she can ride it there. Kayleigh really enjoyed the fish and the tiger. She would pretend to roar like a tiger, it was cute. It's a really soft "rar" when she does it.

It was a pretty hot day but we drank lots of water and tried to stay hidrated. Of course we got stuck in traffic on the way home, it took us about an hour to get home. Once home Kayleigh did lay down and took about a 2 hours nap, hooray! It was a really fun day to go with my mom, sister, and two nieces. Michael also met us there and spent some time with us and then headed back to work. It was nice to have another adult with all the kids. Happy summer!

Speaking of glasses...

Family in town

My brother, sister-in-law and their two daughters are in town from Maryland. Since we don't get to see them very often we've gone down to my mom's a lot this month. The little girls just love playing together! My sister's daughter, Kayleigh and my brother's daughter have been getting to know each other better. Playing in the water at Nana's has been a huge help with this. Here are some pictures of last week when they played in the sprinkler, on the swing set, and tramp. Kayleigh absolutely LOVES to swing, or "wing" as she says it. When playing in the sprinkler she got upset that the grass clippings would stick to her feet, it was funny! Everyone teases me that she gets it from me, we are just neat freaks!

Summer Party

A couple of weeks ago we had our annual summer party for the musical group we are involved in. (Can't say too much about the group on our blog so you can e-mail me if you want more info at missmerika8@hotmail.com) We had dinner and enjoyed talking to each other. The kids really enjoyed the tractor rides that were given by the owners of the home we were at. Kayleigh said tractor all by herself, it was cute!

My new glasses

New pair

Old pair

Last week I picked up my new pair of glasses from Costco. Kayleigh broke my old frames, my fault cause I left them in a drawer she can get to. I wear contacts in the day but glasses at night so I needed some functional ones. I actually took my old frames to Shopko and they were able to bend them back but they are very loose and could break at any time. I've had some people tell me they don't like the thick frames, but I think they are cute. My brother-in-law thinks they hide my face because all you see is the glasses. Since I mostly wear contacts I'm not too worried about it. What do you think?

Nursery

Kayleigh went to all of nursery all by herself today. I am so proud of her, she didn't cry at all. Michael has been taking her in there for a few weeks now to get her used to it so that helped. I can't believe that she is already 18 months old! She is growing up so fast.

Michael enjoyed being able to go to church and actually listen, it's been awhile since he's been to Sunday School. I'm always in Primary with the Sunbeams so Michael has taken Kayleigh for the first 2 hours of church. (Our Sacrament meeting is last.) Hopefully she will keep going so happily and Michael can keep enjoying church. No more kid excuses now, Honey! :-)
