Back at the first of November came our first good snow fall of the winter. It was a Saturday morning and Michael took the kids out to play and make their first snowman of the season. Kayleigh loved it!  (As a heads up, my kids do own snow pants and Landon does have gloves, but Michael couldn't find them. I have since shown him. )

That night the snow man fell over because of the afternoon sun and Kayleigh was so sad!  I reassured her that it will snow again and we'll be able to build another one.  I felt so bad for her though, it was sad for me, too!!

Landon's big boy bed

My little boy is growing up!  Last Saturday we made the transition out of the crib and into a twin bed.   I say "we" because it's been a lot of work for us as parents, too.  Landon has not done as well as Kayleigh did with this change.  Let's face it though, Kayleigh did extremely well, so I knew it wouldn't go as well.  The first night it took a few hours, literally, of putting him back in his bed over and over before he finally fell asleep.  Once he's asleep he does fine.

For some reason he seems to do better at going down for his naps than he does at nighttime.  Last night though I didn't even have to go in at all after initially putting him down.  He was really tired though so I know that helped.  Poor kid though, he fell out two times last night.  I felt SO bad!  First time I heard this huge thud and then crying.  I knew he'd fallen out because I remember Kayleigh doing that a couple of times.  He was half asleep as I lifted him back in.  Hopefully he'll adjust soon to the newness of it all.

We took the crib down and into storage for a couple of months so he will get used to the idea that he isn't a baby any more.  Then, maybe towards the end of January first of February we'll get it back out again.  I hope we can find a way to get everything to fit in Landon's room.  I'm beginning to wonder if a twin bed, crib, bookshelf and changing table will fit.  We shall see...

Halloween 2011

Kayleigh at Grandma and Grandpa Lyman's
Rapunzel (Brooke), Harry Potter (Tyler), Dragon (Landon), Belle (Kayleigh)
Kayleigh liked playing Pin the Wart on the Witch
Kayleigh with her turkey craft she made
 Pumpkin carving time!

All ready to trick-or-treat!  She couldn't wait!
Belle (Kayleigh), Rapunzel (Grace), Bat (Phoebe), Dragon (Landon)
He wasn't sure at first, but he soon caught on that he was getting candy and had to eat some right away.

All done trick-or-treating, eating a sucker and relaxing.

We had such a fun, busy day yesterday.  I headed out with the kids just after 1:00 to visit Michael's grandparents.  They live really close to us and I knew they wanted to see the kid's costumes.  I was just hoping Landon would actually put his on.  When I got there I told him if he wanted some candy he had to put it on.  He eventually put on the top of it so we could at least get some pictures.

While we were there Michael's sis came with her family so we could see their costumes.  Tyler made a great Harry Potter and Brooke a pretty Rapunzel.  It's nice we all live so close now that we can get together often.

Then we headed to my mom's house for an afternoon of Halloween activities.  First off the kids played Pin the Wart on the Witch.  Kayleigh liked it and asked to do it again and again.  Each time she got closer to the face of the witch!  Then the kids got a little Thanksgiving turkey craft.  My mom thought since Halloween would be over the next day they might as well have something to enjoy for the next month.  So we helped them glue all the parts on and it turned out really cute!

Carving pumpkins was up next on the list to do.  Kayleigh was excited to take her pumpkin that she'd picked out at the pumpkin patch to carve.  I helped her, well, did most of it.  She was not too sure about the mess inside the pumpkin.  She did not want to touch it.  I love the smell of pumpkins and so I really enjoyed it!  Thankfully Landon slept through all of it.

Then we ate dinner, pigs in a blanket and chili.  It was really good and the kids ate good since we told them they had to eat all their dinner before going trick-or-treating.  Once dinner was done we got everyone ready to head out.

The weather was PERFECT for trick-or-treating.  I started with a sweat shirt on but soon took it off because I was sweating.  Landon did most of the night in the stroller, but he wanted to get out at each house and get some candy.  Most people would let the kids just pick one with their own hands.  Landon was really good at taking a whole hand full, it was funny!

This year we stayed out the longest and went the farthest.  Weather was a big factor there.  The kids completely filled their buckets and got a ton of candy!  They had so much fun though, I was happy for them.  I got a work out, lifting Landon in and out of the stroller.  It was good for me though, worked off some of those candy calories.

Happy Halloween!  We hope your holiday was as fun as ours.  Now on to Thanksgiving...

Samantha's baby blessing

Today we headed down to be with Marie and her family.  They blessed Samantha Marie.  She was so cute and behaved really well!  Our kids on the other hand, didn't behave so well.  During Sacrament, Kayleigh was coloring like she always does during church.  Well, she got mad at herself for scribbling on one of the pages.  Once she did it she wanted to erase it but obviously crayon doesn't erase.  So out of nowhere she chucks her coloring book over her head and it flies almost two rows back almost hitting a guy in the head.  Yeah, I wanted to crawl under the bench, it was awful!!  Michael took her out immediately and she was not happy the rest of the time, naughty girl.  Landon couldn't sit thru a meeting without screaming his loud scream, but luckily I just covered his mouth and it wasn't too bad.

I was thrilled when it was over and we could just go to my sister's house.  Man alive, sometimes you just wonder where your kids get it from.  Kayleigh is always pretty good in Sacrament.  I don't remember the last time we had to take her out.  Hopefully we can move on from today...

As you can tell from the pictures, Kayleigh loves her cousin.  It kind of helps that she's a girl and really cute.  Kayleigh is dying to know, as we all are, what we are having.  (Wednesday can't come soon enough for us to find out.)  She will be devastated if it's another boy.  In her words she already has a little brother and doesn't need another one.  We've said many times that Jesus gets to choose and not us.  Then she replies with, "Well, Jesus knows what I'm thinking and He knows that I want it to be a girl."  After the ultrasound we might have some trouble.  Wish us luck!

The Pumpkin Patch

I can't believe how fast this year has gone!  The holiday season is upon us and it's just crazy.  I love fall time, it's my favorite time of year.  I love all the activities that begin and the time with family.  Last week my sister slept over at our house with her kiddies and the following day we decided to take them to one of the local pumpkin patches.  It was really fun!  My mom and Nathan came along, too.

We found two great pumpkins and Landon thought his "ball" was pretty neat.  He kept rolling it out of the cart which wasn't very helpful, but he thought it was neat.  It was the perfect day to go, weather wise, and we got out of there only spending $4.75.  What a great deal for an hour of fun!  One of these years we'll maybe get Michael to come with us.

Call us band nerds, we can take it

We recently went to Davis Cup, our old high school band competition.  It's held at Davis and a fun little event for our family to go to.  This year my mom came with us and we sat by some people from our ward (Kayleigh's primary teacher) so we had extra company.  Towards the end, Michael's dad also showed up so we got to see him, too.  We took some popcorn for the kids to be entertained but the bands really kept them pretty entertained.  Landon really liked it I think, like father like son.  Maybe he'll play the drums one day.

It kind of made for a late night, especially because we stayed for the awards, but it was okay.  Davis came in 2nd after American Fork, boo, but we still cheered really loud!  Kayleigh thought it was so cool that she could cheer as loud as she wanted.  I even told her she could scream, which she did, and she loved it!  I thought it would be way cold, but it really wasn't too bad.

Mason's birthday party

 Mason and his mommy

A few weekends ago we drove up to Logan to celebrate Mason's birthday with him and his family.  We have really missed our friends, Caprice and Tyler and their kids, since they moved.  Thankfully we still get together every once in awhile.

His party was Mickey themed and it was fun!  I think Kayleigh was the only one that would actually put on the Mickey party hat.  Landon LOVED all the balloons that were there, it was fun to watch him play with them.  We ended up staying awhile after the party and the kids had fun playing with all of Mason's new toys.  He got a couple of toy character cars from  the movie Cars and we quickly realized that Landon loved them!

Thanks for the hot dogs and cupcakes and a fun treat bag to take home, guys.  We had fun!  I'll admit though, the car ride home at 11:30 p.m. wasn't fun.  Especially because Landon never fell asleep and Kayleigh only fell asleep once we got to Ogden.  I'm not sure why Landon hates the car so much.  His screaming in the car is the worst!
